Katara, a custom-built cultural village on West Bay north of downtown Doha, has some stunning replica
architecture on show from across the Islamic world and is fast becoming one of the most important creative hubs of the Gulf region. It has a buzzing gallery scene, dozens of places to eat, an opera house and even a striking open-air amphitheatre facing the sea that’s a fantastic venue for concerts and other live entertainment.
Katara is particularly well served when it comes to art galleries, with local contemporary art and design at Katara Art Center and excellent exhibitions by photographers at Qatar Photographic Society. When you’ve had your fill of the arts, the village also has a beach, watersports and good restaurants and cafes.
